Writing on public health has never been a subject or genre that I have been particularly interested in. Now, I have nothing against the subject; it’s just that it’s never been one of my strong suits. My paper was actually pretty challenging to write because of the substantial research I had to conduct in order to include accurate and well-supported information in my writing. I opted to write on the obesity problem in the United States and whether or not intermittent fasting may be used to assist lower the number of people who are obese in the country.

The ability to inform, educate, and empower people is a fundamental function of public health. Public health experts require good written communication skills in order to effectively meet the health needs of the populations served by public health professionals. As a result, writing is a vital tool for public health professionals. Writing in public health involves evidence-based and clear communication to a wide range of audiences, including communities, academics, policymakers, health care providers, and other public health practitioners, amongst other things.

Knowing my target audience was the most important factor in my organizing because it allows me to decide what genre to write in. When providing health information to the general public, it is critical to determine your genre in order to make it easy for your target readers to locate your materials and information. When it comes to reading, genres assist readers in organizing information so that they may more readily make sense of what they are about to read.

Another reason why genre is important is because it helps the writer figure out their tone for their writing. In public health writing, tone is a critical tool to persuade your reader. Be careful of exaggerating your findings, judging your population, or being condescending. You should approach your subject matter with sensitivity and humility, keeping in mind how your audience would react to your language.

While you may use a more informal tone in casual discussion, you should use a more academic/professional tone in your public health writing to avoid appearing unprofessional.

Your target audience is the reason for your writing; getting to know them will make the process easier. When you know who you’re writing for, you can make better decisions about the information you want to include, how you want to organize that information, and what kind of supporting details are necessary for the reader to grasp what you’re presenting.

Around 65 percent of people are visual learners, which is why I chose a brochure and a political cartoon for my project. When it comes to information dissemination, brochures stand out from the crowd since they can include a range of images and data. When creating brochures, it is important to remember that they are intended to hold a lot of information while still being visually appealing to read. For many years, political cartoons have appeared in a variety of journals and newspapers around the country. They can make information that appears to be “boring” appear to be exciting. Political cartoons, of course, discuss politics, but they do so in a lighthearted manner. The fact that they may be used to lighten the mood and, hopefully, persuade the audience to laugh makes them quite valuable.

When compared to simple text, visual information is significantly more appealing to the average person. It is easier for the brain to process information when there is visual stimulation than word translation, whether you are shopping or studying for an exam. By combining auditory and visual clues, you can connect with the brain and make a message truly stick in the brain. A well-structured story mixed with basic, identifiable images can help students gain a full comprehension of a topic that would otherwise be difficult to grasp.

Regardless of an author’s level of talent or experience, one of the most important aspects of writing is considering your audience. It directs the purpose of your writing and defines how complex or how basic the work should be to be successful. It assists you in determining which point of view is most appropriate from which to write, and it gives us with a grasp of what will either appeal to or repel their target audience, depending on the situation. Writers can develop a functioning relationship with readers by employing the patterns of a genre that is widely recognized by readers to accomplish their objectives. However, being conversant with a variety of genres might make life easier for authors. Audiences benefit from genre classification because it allows them to distinguish between different kinds and forms of narrative, allowing them to choose what they enjoy most. As the author of your essay, you want to be certain that you are using the appropriate tone for the purpose and audience for which you are writing. Because my subject is important, I believe my tone should be serious as well.

When writing an essay, the writer should keep in mind the who, what, and why of the essay, which are referred to as the audience, tone, and objective of the writing, respectively. A well-organized essay is one that is clear, focused, logical, and successful in its presentation of the argument. If the thesis is well ordered, it will be much easier to understand it in the future. It is essential that we make use of the elements of writing in order to improve our writing and make our writing more fascinating for our target audience.
